Dr. Zahra Afshari obtained her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology & Immunology and a Bachelor of Arts in Near-Eastern studies at the University of Michigan. She completed her M.D. at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Neurology residency at the University of Michigan. She completed her fellowship in clinical neurophysiology (Epilepsy and Neuromuscular) at Northwestern.

Dr. Zahra Afshari is triple board Certified in Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (EEG/EMG).
